The Place Cafe is a bustling f&b venue at a high end residential district in Central Park, Chaoyang Beijing. For the face lift, we worked with the client to create an industrial look open plan space that can also be used as a special events venue. Concrete, timber and matt black metal were used throughout the cafe. The timber deck serves as a service platform and to direct traffic to the toilet behind away from main seating areas. A metallic ceiling grid with varying H compositions both provide track lighting as well as masking the service M&E equipment tucked behind.
Much thought was put in to the frame language, in lining up the black metallic trimming against the concrete walls and pillars as well as the timber shelving and countertops, resonating with the H compositions of the ceiling in an elevational relationship.
